The Things we Do for Love

THE THINGS WE DO FOR LOVE

Welcome to Lyndesfarne Theatre Projects and our very first official season, which I’ve come to the conclusion, has as much to do with the things we do for love as it does with anything.

Sometimes life just pops up and bites us - gently, accidentally, humorously, passionately, and at times so sharp and unexpectedly that it takes our breath away.  However it happens these moments always make for good stories.  Stories shape our lives and have enormous impact on our world, and good stories make great theatre. Quite often that’s what theatre is – the moments when life pops up and bites, and silence is no longer an option. Speaking up, acting out, and creating change – the possibilities of story and theatre are endless.  And when we act from a place of love, anything is possible.  Anything.

Lyndesfarne Theatre Projects has certainly been shaped by the things we do for love, and without meaning to, so has our season.  Our first offering is A. R. Gurney’s Love Letters, the story of a man and a woman who will remind us how unpredictable, fleeting and precious is our time together.  This production is especially meaningful during the holidays and will resonate even more so as ten different real-life couples present this beautiful story over ten evenings.

Our winter production of Canadian playwright, George F. Walker’s Problem Child, in which a young couple’s sojourn in a motel room makes for a crazy, darkly hilarious, and ultimately poignant ride as they attempt to regain custody of their infant daughter – if only they can get by family and child services first!

To everyone at Lyndesfarne Theatre Projects, I’m so grateful to you for choosing to be a part of this company.  Here’s to a thriving future!  And on behalf of everyone at Lyndesfarne Theatre Projects, I thank you for your support and encouragement. We look forward to seeing you at the theatre this year!
